Abstract
Listening in foreign language classes is an active process, which requires attention.
Learners, who listen carefully during listening lessons or activities, are expected to reach
their aims in listening comprehension; to do so, the instructors should be familiar with the
most effective strategies to be used in the listening process, and base their teaching on
authentic materials, which helps the learners to engage in the social communication outside
the classroom, in which the main goal of teaching a foreign language is to be used in real life
situation. In order to present a successful listening lesson, it should be organised and prepared
according to arranged stages. It is obvious that learners face some problems during their
learning of listening, the teachers’ role, in this case, is to facilitate their learning and help
them to overcome these problems.
