The Role of Cooperative Learning in Enhancing the EFL Students’ Attitudes Case study: Second year LMD Students of English at the Chadli Ben Jdid University El-Tarf

Abstract

The present study aims to investigate the Role of Cooperative Learning in Enhancing the Students’ Negative Attitudes. The work is mainly concerned with teachers who use cooperative learning strategies in the classroom in order to help the students to be more productive. Our hypothesis stipulated that If teachers use CL with their students, they will witness a great improvement in the different skills. To confirm this hypothesis, a descriptive study has been conducted using both quantitative and qualitative methods, while questionnaires were used as a data gathering instrument. The questionnaires were administrated to both students of second year at the department of Chadli Ben Jdid University, and teachers from different levels in order to ensure a diverse opinion. The results of this study revealed that CL is the appropriate technique can be used to encourage the students overcoming their problems; fear, shyness, lack of confidence, and quite their negative attitudes. As a consequence, the use of CL surely helps second year students improve their skills, teach them a sense of responsibility, boost their confidence, and encourage them to achieve higher levels.

تهدف الدراسة الحالية إلى استكشاف دور التعلم التعاوني في تعزيز مواقف الطلاب السلبية. يركز العمل بشكل رئيسي على المعلمين الذين يستخدمون استراتيجيات التعلم التعاوني في الصف لمساعدة الطلاب على أن يكونوا أكثر إنتاجية. افترضت فرضيتنا أنه إذا استخدم المعلمون التعلم التعاوني مع طلابهم، فإنهم سيشهدون تحسنًا كبيرًا في المهارات المختلفة. لتأكيد هذه الفرضية، تم إجراء دراسة وصفية باستخدام كل من الطرق الكمية والنوعية، بينما تم استخدام الاستبيانات كأداة لجمع البيانات. تم توزيع الاستبيانات على طلاب السنة الثانية في قسم جامعة شادلي بن جديد، والمعلمين من مستويات مختلفة لضمان تنوع الآراء. كشفت نتائج هذه الدراسة أن التعلم التعاوني هو التقنية المناسبة التي يمكن استخدامها لتشجيع الطلاب على التغلب على مشاكلهم؛ مثل الخوف، الخجل، نقص الثقة بالنفس، والتخلص من مواقفهم السلبية.
