Abstract
Summary: An epidemiological survey of Newcastle disease has been conducted for twelve months (from May 2016 to June 2017), two agro-ecological zones: sétif & bordj bou arreridj. The 30 families who participated in the survey claimed that they had experienced an epizootic with high mortality at least once before the survey. The results of the serological investigation and the isolation of the pathogen confirmed that this epizootic is indeed Newcastle disease. The maximum incidence (71%) of the disease affecting 75% of stockpiles, with a seroprevalence often reaching 100% after the epizootic. In the villages, infection is brought either by the newly introduced hens or by the cured birds. All forms of Newcastle disease (epizootic, enzootic and asymptomatic) were encountered. The behavior of breeders favors the generalization of the infection within the same Village and surrounding villages.
