Abstract
This research work represents a contribution to the systematic and ethnobotanical study of aromatic and medicinal plants (AMP) within the Tonga forest, a key ecological zone of the El Kala National Park (North-Eastern Algeria). The study is built around two main axes: on one hand, the characterization of the physical environment and plant communities of the Tonga forest, and on the other hand, the promotion of traditional knowledge related to the use of these plants and their essential oils. To achieve this, an ethnobotanical survey was conducted among the local population to record therapeutic uses, preparation methods, and the most frequently exploited plant parts. The obtained results confirm the high floristic diversity of this area and highlight the significance of traditional medicine in the region. This study underscores the absolute necessity of preserving this natural and cultural heritage.
