Abstract
Abstract in English This dissertation presents a semio-cultural and hermeneutic analysis of the novel "The Name of the Rose" by philosopher and semiotician Umberto Eco, tracing the transition from a closed scholastic heritage to an open-ended framework of knowledge, the study highlights how the author leverages forms of popular literature, specifically the detective plot and the myth of the labyrinth, to deconstruct the medieval dogmatism that claims a monopoly on absolute truth, furthermore, it sheds light on the spatial semiotics, such as the library designed to obstruct knowledge, and the ideological conflict between the characters, particularly between the investigator William of Baskerville, who represents the empirical mind, and the monk Jorge, who embodies the authority of absolute censorship, ultimately, the thesis concludes that the material destruction of heritage through the burning of the library declares the triumph of nominalist philosophy, asserting that knowledge is not built on possessing final truths, but on the continuous interpretation of signs and names in a multi-path world, Keywords: The Name of the Rose, Umberto Eco, cultural semiotics, popular literature, heritage and knowledge, labyrinth, model reader, nominalist philosophy.
