Abstract

ourism is one of the most important topics to which many countries pay great attention. The tourism sector is considered an essential sector in some countries and an emerging alternative in others. The tourism industry is an inexhaustible wealth. Therefore, many countries are interested in developing this sector because it is an important source of attracting hard currency and an impetus for economic development. This study aims to show the extent to which the tourism sector contributes to achieving economic diversification in the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, and Algeria. To achieve this, we must recognize the various components of this sector to understand the facts related to the reality of tourism in these countries, and this requires evaluating the strategies adopted by these countries to develop the tourism sector. The study concluded that the underutilization of tourism assets is hindering the development of the sector. In addition, strategies must be effective, as evidenced by the positive contribution to GDP, job creation, and balance of payments improvements in the UAE and Malaysia. In contrast, Algeria is still far from developing its tourism sector.
