Investigating the role of digital technology in promoting learner autonomy

Abstract

This work investigates the role of digital technology in learning which can be a valuable tool in enhancing learning. The aim of this research is to discover how digital technologies can allow learners to direct their learning process. It seeks to explore the significance of using technology to find solutions for the challenges that face EFL students. The research tool used in this study is the students’ questionnaire. The questionnaire was given to thirty master one EFL students at Chedli Ben Djdid University, El Taref during the academic year 2022/2023. The obtained results show that learning through technology enhances learner autonomy in various aspects of the language, and it has many advantages which help students take control of their learning.

هذا العمل هو عبارة عن بحث حول دور التكنولوجيا الرقمية في التعليم، والتي يمكنها أن تكون أداة فعّالة لتحسين التعلم. الهدف من هذا البحث هو اكتشاف كيف يمكن للتكنولوجيا الرقمية أن تسمح للطلبة بالمزيد من التحكم في عملية التعلم. يسعى هذا العمل إلى اكتشاف أهمية استعمال التكنولوجيا لإيجاد حلول للعوائق التي يواجهها طلبة اللغة الإنجليزية كلغة أجنبية، أداة البحث المستعملة في هذه الدراسة هي استبيان للطلبة. تم إعطاء الاستبيان إلى ثلاثين طالبًا في قسم السنة الأولى ماستر لغة إنجليزية وآدابها بجامعة الشاذلي بن جديد، ولاية الطارف خلال العام الدراسي 2022/2023. النتائج المتحصل عليها في هذا البحث تظهر لنا أن التعلم عن طريق التكنولوجيا يحسن التعليم الذاتي من مختلف جوانب اللغة، وله عدة مزايا تساعد الطلبة على التمكن من التحكم في التعلم.
