Abstract

The effectiveness of student-centered teaching approaches in enhancing critical thinking skills is a crucial aspect of education. This study investigates the impact of a student-centered approach on critical thinking skills in an English language learning setting. The research was conducted at a University of Chadli Ben djedid in Tarf province. It dealt with 46 EFL students of master one and all the teachers at the same university. questionnaires to The study employed a mixed methodology, using two gather data, which was then analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The main hypothesis of this research was that a student-centered approach would significantly enhance critical thinking skills. To test this hypothesis, the researchers examined the implementation of the student-centered approach in the classrooms, explored teachers' attitudes towards it, and evaluated the extent to which it improved the students' critical thinking abilities. The results revealed that the student-centered approach was fully implemented, and there was improvement in the students' critical thinking skills. Furthermore, the teachers expressed positive attitudes towards the approach. The study concludes with pedagogical implications and recommendations aimed at improving the quality of the teaching and learning process.
