Abstract
Abstract:
The topic of academic specialization and its relationship with attitudes toward the teaching profession among students of Higher Teacher Training Schools (Écoles Normales Supérieures) is considered a novel subject. It represents a significant research pathway and enriches academic literature with highly valuable scientific contributions.
The research problem emerged as an attempt to explore the nature of the relationship between academic specialization and attitudes toward the teaching profession among these students. The study revealed that the chosen specialization aligns with students' desires and inclinations, fosters positive attitudes toward the teaching profession, enhances their sense of pride in belonging to it, and increases their acceptance of their professional future. The significance of this study lies in understanding how the choice of specialization during the university stage influences the formation of professional inclinations toward teaching.
The study was guided by the main research question: What is the nature of the relationship between academic specialization and attitudes toward the teaching profession among students of Higher Teacher Training Schools?
From this main question, the following sub-questions were derived:
To what extent are students of Higher Teacher Training Schools satisfied with their choice of specialization?
What are the factors influencing the choice of academic specialization?
What is the nature of students' attitudes toward the teaching profession?
To address these questions, the study adopted a descriptive methodology, utilizing a random sampling technique and a questionnaire as the primary tool for data collection.
The study yielded several key findings, most notably:
The majority of students exhibit a high level of satisfaction regarding their choice of academic specialization.
Students' specializations closely align with their personal inclinations and interests.
Intrinsic motivations represent the most prominent factor guiding students' choices of academic specialization.
Social perception of the teaching profession, along with professional privileges and incentives, are key underlying factors behind this orientation.
Students' attitudes toward the teaching profession are highly positive.
Students perceive that the teaching profession offers specific professional privileges, incentives, and a balanced work-life dynamic.
