dc.description.abstract The use of English as a foreign or language undoubtedly concerns with the amount of vocabulary that student stores. According to our project, the development of vocabulary knowledge of second year EFL students at Chadli Bendjedid University (El-tarf) depends on the use of didactic poems as a teaching material for the purpose of enhancing their speaking ability and facilitating their communicative proficiency. Thus, we intended to inquire why do 2nd year students of English at Chadli Bendjedid University find difficulties to communicate with each other And how far can didactic poems-based teaching material enrich 2nd year EFL Student’s vocabulary in terms of speaking communication? Moreover, in this dissertation we found the appropriate solution to confirm our topic hypotheses which introduced as: first, learner’s vocabulary storage is handled with care through teaching didactic poems which reduce their speaking and communicating problems, and second, the use of didactic poems in EFL Courses is effective to develop student’s vocabulary. For getting our study aim, we have gone through adopting the experimental on the basis of the quazi-experimental design as we made a pre-test, treatment, and post-test. Hence, our research used the didactic poem as a teaching tool to determine that EFL student’s vocabulary have enriched in which we noticed an advance in their vocabulary knowledge level and poetry knowledge level as well, and their speaking and communicative problems have been reduced.
