Abstract

Modern communication technology has witnessed an amazing development, which was clearly reflected in most areas of life. One of the most prominent means of communication is social networking sites, which have crossed the boundaries of what is technological into what is political, economic and social, and the virtual world has become affecting what is realistic, and this is what we witnessed, especially in light of the Corona pandemic, which It led to isolating individuals healthily and reducing their presence within groups and applying social distancing to contain the spread of the pandemic, and due to this reality, everyone seeks intensification and solidarity through volunteer work, and we chose the Basbas Circle Association and that was through social networking sites, and Facebook is one of the most important of those sites, where the importance of this study lies In highlighting the use of social networking sites by standing on their effectiveness in the field of volunteer work due to its importance in light of the pandemic, in addition to keeping pace with the study of reality developments and researching the topic of the role of communication sites in promoting volunteer work and ways to prevent and deal with this pandemic. groups and the desire to shed light on the other dimensions of social networking sites as a means not only related to communication, The current study aims to identify the extent of the contribution of social networking sites - Facebook - to promoting the concept of volunteer work in light of the pandemic, as well as to identify the impact of the contents published on the Facebook site about volunteer work during the pandemic, and to add to identify the habits and patterns of using social networking sites, so we tried through Our study answered the following main question : How did social networking sites contribute to promoting volunteer work in light of the Corona pandemic ? We included a set of sub-questions : What is the importance of social networking sites for the individual and groups in light of the pandemic ? How did Facebook contribute to encouraging its users to work in awareness ? What is the addition provided by social networking sites to the success of volunteer work ? In addition to the basic concepts of social networking sites - volunteer work - Corona pandemic - the pandemic - Facebook - we have relied on the content analysis method and two tools for collecting corresponding data and observation, and we have reached the following results: •The increase in needy families takes the lead by 12.90%, which means that the association gives priority to solidarity work . •The association gives importance to awareness work through the publications it publishes on its page about the importance of vaccination against the Corona virus . •We also concluded that the charitable association of the Basbas Department practices solidarity and awareness work and makes it a priority in its continuity and the continuity of volunteer work, even if it is from a distance, by employing social media .
