Abstract
Nobody can deny that English is becoming increasingly important around the world. It is used in all domains, including economy, education, scientific disciplines, tourism etc... Our research has examined the significant role that English plays in tourism.. As a result, English is essential for Tourism and Hospitality in order to communicate with foreign tourists. This dissertation is a case study conducted at the National Institute of Vocational Training in EL Tarf, Algeria, with Tourism and Hospitality learners as a sample population. The research seeks to identify the major challenges that those learners face when using English as a specific language for Tourism and Hospitality. To investigate the causes of these obstacles, questionnaires are distributed to participants and their teacher. The goal of this research is to develop a prototype English course for Tourism and Hospitality learners in order to help them improve their language skills, particularly their oral skills. This dissertation is divided into five interconnected chapters; the first one is an introduction to the study and the aim of the study. The second chapter provides an overview of ESP and course design. The third chapter describes the region El-Tarf, the National Institute of Vocational Training, the sample population, and data collection tools. The fourth chapter reports the research tools' findings and provides the quantitative analyses. Finally, based on the findings in this chapter, some suggestions and recommendations are made to English for Tourism and hospitality Purposes teachers and students in order to overcome the obstacles that impede the English language learning process.
