EXPLORING THE USE OF MOBILE APPLICATIONS IN ENHANCING VOCABULARY ACQUISITION IN EFL CLASSROOMS CASE OF 1st YEAR EFL STUDENTS OF CHADLI BEN DJEDID UNIVERSITY AT EL-TARF (ALGERIA)

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the integration of Mobile Applications (Mob Apps) to enhance Vocabulary Acquisition (Voc Acq) in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) education in the English department of Chadli Ben Djedid University of El-Tarf. The primary objective of this study is to explore the attitude of the students and the teachers towards the use of Mob Apps for enhancing Voc Acq in EFL education, and whether these Apps are helpful and beneficial for this learning purpose of not. This study adopts a descriptive design through the use of mixed methods approach. Two questionnaires were administered to gather data from 34 first year EFL students and from 7 EFL teachers of the previously mentioned department. The findings of the study aligned with the research hypotheses, indicating that both students and teachers are supportive of integrating Mob Apps such as “Duolingo” and “Quizlet” and others to enhance Voc Acq in EFL education. Based on these findings, pedagogical recommendations and strategies were developed to facilitate the learning and teaching process of Voc Acq through the effective use of Mob Apps.

تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى استكشاف دمج تطبيقات الهاتف المحمول لتعزيز اكتساب المفردات في تعليم اللغة الإنجليزية كلغة أجنبية في قسم اللغة الإنجليزية بجامعة الشاذلي بن جديد بالطارف. يتمثل الهدف الرئيسي لهذه الدراسة في استكشاف مواقف الطلاب والمعلمين تجاه استخدام تطبيقات الهاتف المحمول لتعزيز اكتساب المفردات في تعليم اللغة الإنجليزية كلغة أجنبية، وما إذا كانت هذه التطبيقات مفيدة ونافعة لهذا الغرض التعليمي أم لا. تعتمد هذه الدراسة على تصميم وصفي من خلال 34استخدام منهجية مختلطة. تم توزيع استبيانين لجمع البيانات من ا في السنة الأولى لتعلم اللغة الإنجليزية كلغة أجنبية ًطالب 7ومن حيث أظهر كل من الطلاب ، ا مع فرضيات البحث ً ا .أظهرت نتائج الدراسة توافق ً معلمين في القسم المذكور سابق ا لدمج تطبيقات الهاتف المحمول مثل ً والمعلمين دعم "Duolingo" و"Quizlet" وغيرها لتعزيز اكتساب المفردات في تعليم على هذه النتائج، تم تطوير توصيات واستراتيجيات تربوية لتسهيل عملية التعلم والتعليم ً اللغة الإنجليزية كلغة أجنبية .بناء .لاكتساب المفردات من خلال الاستخدام الفعال لتطبيقات الهاتف المحمول
