Abstract
    
    
        Our research work was carried out with the aim of solving the following question: what is the effect of the explanatory text on learning French as a foreign language and environmental education? According to this problem and in order to reach our research objective, we have formulated the hypotheses: -That the explanatory text would allow learners not only to use a lexicon related to the theme, but also to be involved in the development of their environment. -Our methodology is based on the writings of high school students. We analyzed its copies, we found that the explanatory text would allow learners on the one hand to appropriate a lexicon on the theme, and on the other hand it encourages them to get involved in the development of their environment, since the environmental-themed scientific texts motivate learners and helpers to develop their language skills, which led us to deduce that our initial assumptions have been confirmed.
