The Effect of FlippedClassroom in Enhancing EFL Pupils’ Written Production Case Study: 3rdYear Middle School Pupils EL-Tarf

Abstract

The child of yesterday is not the child of todayand not the one of tomorrow due to the spreading of technology that leverages the teaching and learning process. Thus, flipped classroom (FC) emerged since it encompasses the use of technological devices. This quasi-experimental research investigates the effect of the FC in enhancing the pupils’ written production; the research was conducted at Tridi Ali Middle School, El- Tarf, as it dealt with one group of 30 third-year pupils. To achieve the stated aims, a pre-test was administered to the pupils in order to gauge their written production level before the implementation of the FC. After that, they received video lectures to watch them at home since the treatment lasted four sessions dealing with the practice of the dispatched videos to improve the pupils’ writing level. Then, a post-test was delivered to confirm or reject the formulated hypothesis. Both pre-test and post-test were assessed using a suitable analytical rubric, and the results were quantitatively analyzed and compared. The results of the post-test were significantly higher than the pre-test results; EFL pupils have colossally benefited from the application of the FC to enhance their writing. The use of the FC is inevitable to guarantee the improvement of the pupils’ written production in an entertaining enthusiastic way. The current study concludes by providing some of the practical implications and recommendations that would enhance the teaching-learning process at Tridi Ali Middle School. إن تلميذ الأمس ليس تلميذ اليوم ولا حتى تلميذ الغد، كل هذا الإختلاف يحدث بسبب انتشارالتكنولوجيا التي بدورها تعزز من عملية التعليم والتعلم، مما سمحت الفرصة إلى ظهور الفصل المقلوبكونه يشتمل استخدام الأجهزة التكنولوجية في التعليم.تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى معرفة كيفية تأثير الفصل المقلوب على تحسين الإنتاج الكتابيللتلاميذ، حيث تم إجراء الدراسة في متوسطة تريدي علي بولاية الطارف، في حين تناولت مجموعةواحدة من التلاميذ متكونة من ثلاثين تلميذا يدرسون في السنة الثالثة من التعليم المتوسط. ولتحقيقالأهداف المذكورة، تم إجراء اختبار تمهيدي على التلاميذ من أجل قياس مستوى إنتاجهم الكتابي قبلتنفيذ الفصل المقلوب، بعد ذلك تلقوا دروس بالفيديو لمشاهدتها في المنزل، استمرت المعالجةأربع جلسات تناولت فيها مشاهدة وممارسةمقاطع الفيديو المرسلة لتحسين مستوى كتابة التلاميذ. وفقالذلك، تم تسليم اختبار لاحق لتأكيد أو رفض الفرضيات المصاغة ومن ثم تقييم كل من الاختبارين القبليواللاحق باستخدام نموذج تقييم تحليلي مناسب، بعدها يتم تحليل النتائج ومقارنتها من الناحية الكمية. كانت نتائج الاختبار اللاحق أعلى بكثير من نتائج الاختبار القبلي، كما واستفاد تلاميذ اللغةالإنجليزية كلغة أجنبية بشكل كبير من تطبيق الفصل المقلوب لتحسين كتاباتهم. وبذلك نستنتج ان استخدام طريقة الفصل المقلوب هي طريقة إجابية لضمان تحسين الإنتاج الكتابي للتلاميذ بطريقة مسلية ومتحمسة.تختتم الدراسة الحالية بتقديم بعض الآثار العملية والتوصيات التي من شأنها تعزيز عمليةالتدريس والتعلم في متوسطة تريدي علي.
